Where Has September Gone?

Wow. September's almost over. That happened fast.

I feel like all I've done these last few weeks is work! I haven't worked many extra hours, but my job's been pretty exhausting and stressful. By the time I get home, I don't want to do much of anything.

But I guess we've had a couple of moderately interesting things going on. Nothing super exciting, but probably worthy of a post.

A while back (feels like a really long time ago, but I think it was only a couple weeks), we had what may be our final hike of the season. We hiked Mount Sanitas near Boulder. Short and pretty easy, but fun.

View of Boulder from the top.

At the top. It was pretty chilly and rainy. Signs that summer's almost gone.

I was having so much fun!

Pretty.

September means the start of the football season, which is always a very exciting time for Matt. Our teams (Chiefs and Broncos) had their season openers at the same time on the same day. But Matt, with help from our DirecTV Sunday Ticket, solved the problem for us.

We had my family over for the games. Evie has already perfected her football watching pose:

And Pywacket was exhausted after playing with her new "toys" my mom brought her.

My weekends have still been taken up with performances of my current show, Born Yesterday. It's been a long run, but it's always fun to get to do a show with these people.

Getting ready backstage.

Me and Clark Kent.

Me and my drunken attorney.

And finally, Matt's been trying to get into the Colorado fireworks "scene" after years of doing big shows in Kansas. Last weekend, he worked on a moderate-sized show in Frederick, Colorado.

Firework things that I don't really understand. You put the shells inside these things and somehow, they blow up when you tell them to.

This is the thing that tells the shells to blow up... somehow. With really long cords, I guess. I don't really get it.

And now September's almost gone. But I'm ok with that. This month hasn't really done it for me. I'm ready to move on to October.

Back to Normal

Ah, freedom.

Since my show opened last week, I've had a little more time on the weekends to get back on the trails. Last weekend, Matt and I took a short hike up the Meyers Homestead Trail.

Aspens.

The homestead.

Today we went out with my dad up Mount Galbraith. We got an early start, so the weather was cool and the trail wasn't too busy.

The sun's coming up... I'm riding with Lady Luck.

Matt conquering the mountain (but it was a pretty small mountain).

Looking out over the city.

Resting.

Pretty purple flowers.

In the last couple weeks, I've also had more time to spend with family and friends. We celebrated a couple of birthdays:

Jessie's birthday party. Matt made a lot of kabobs, we had a fire for the kids, and Evie was cute (as usual).

Belle's birthday party. She had it at Chuck-E-Cheese's. Even the grown-ups had fun playing the games. (I love skee-ball.)

We even got to go out and have some fun on a week night. I haven't been able to do that since before this crazy show. Matt, Melissa, and I went bowling. Fun.

I'm already planning my next auditions, but in the mean time, I've really enjoyed a little freedom.
